How do i fix a crackling amp?

i bought a 500 watt crate g130c xl head amp and i have determined that the problem is not the guitar or cords it is the amp, both channels crackle and pop. i dont know much about all this crap but please tell me what i can do and if i must take it to get repaired how much should it cost?
