Why Music has changed in Western Countries?

After travelling several countries, I have noticed middle easterns/europeans (italians greeks, russians, polish romanians etc.) still value "old school" music with the dances at weddings. Just how it was in the Big Fat Greek Movie. But in the West and especially America, it seems as though the music has no sense of tradition to it and neither do the dances. Youngsters of today in other countries still value the tradition music and dance (parents ensure they keep tradition alive!) while youngers in US (in general) only kno Rap or heavy metal which has kno traditional feel to it.
